In this conference, I presented my PhD research which explores explores how multi-actor interactions of non-profit grassroots organizations (GROs) and state, market and civil society actors are navigated pre, during, and post disasters, the situated contingencies in play, and mechanisms that (do not) work for resilience in informal settlements, alias ‘the ghetto’. In this conference, I centralized multilevel governance during fire disasters. I won first place in the PhD thesis competition. My pitch highlighted a puzzle in how fires are governed in Nairobi in the form of a news bulleting
