Study Visit on Product Safety in E-commerce

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventOrganising and contributing to an eventAcademic

Description

The visit of the Turkish delegation of trade (amongst other things) aims to understand the legal interpretation and implementation of EU product safety and e-commerce legislation. This touches upon: EU digital regulation, consumer protection and platform governance.

During this meeting we will discuss platform responsibility, due diligence obligations, seller verification, notice-and-take-down mechanisms and supervisory approaches by EU Member States. The delegation is also interested in broader governance questions: how regulatory models evolve in response to fast-changing online-markets, how authorities oversee digital platforms and what legal risks or implementation gaps are emerging across Europe.

Another area of interest is market surveillance through mystery shopping, IT-tools and software, regulatory aspects relating to these kinds of tools (including web crawling) and using evidence that was gathered using these methods.
