Research interests

Alkım Yalın's research centers around creator cultures, platform labor, and digital capitalism. Her current research explores the platformization of creative labor by focusing on the integration of influencer and e-commerce industries in Turkey through a digital ethnographic approach. She received her doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where her work has been supported by the “Dissertation Research Grant” from the Graduate School and the “Anca Romantan International Fieldwork Research Grant” from the Department of Communication.

Her recent publications appeared in Social Media + Society, The Routledge Companion to Advertising and Promotional Culture, and the Routledge Handbook to the Influence Industry.
