Research interests

Throughout my academic and professional career, I have articulated research, teaching, psychosocial support and public service as state official in Colombia. My research interests have focused on the consolidation of a transdisciplinary and intersectional perspective regarding the generational experiences of urban and rural youth in the midst of sociopolitical conflicts and violence in countries that, like Colombia, have been affected by the armed conflict and are experiencing transitional justice processes. Simultaneously, I have participated in the production, appropriation and social use of knowledge for social transformation of youth realities through intergenerational pedagogies and collaborative research training processes with local men and women leaders, young and adults. I have conducted research training of professionals in psychology and other social sciences (undergraduate and postgraduate), and contributed in the design of university policies and programs (academic, welfare and extension). Along this journey, I have also contributed to the construction of public youth policies at local and national levels; and more recently, to the Colombian Truth Commission´s work, and to the implementation of the truth and memory policy with victims of the armed conflict at the CNMH (National Center for Historical Memory). All these previous developments have nourished and have been enriched by academic exchanges with international research networks/groups of which I have been part of: Youth and Political Practices in Latin America and the Caribbean (CLACSO); Youth and Childhood (CLACSO); Political Ecology (Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam); Conflict, Region and Rural societies (Universidad Javeriana).
