Research interests

Carlotta Scioldo is a researcher and consultant with a focus on EU cultural policies and programmes. Through her professional and academic trajectory, she has acquired a multifaced view of the cultural and creative sector. Her fundamental drive is to bridge the communication gap that often exists between the cultural sector and policymaking so that the functioning and aspirations of the field do not get lost in translation. 

With this purpose, she has worked as dramaturg, joined the Creative Europe Unit at EACEA, and served as Network Manager and Policy Advisor the European Dancehouse Network and works as External Expert for the evaluation of EU Cultural Cooperation projects.

Carlotta completed her Ph.D. on European Transnational Networks in the Cultural Sector at the Interfaculty Department of the University and Polytechnic of Turin. She was visiting researcher at the UCL’s Public Policy Department. In her work, she sheds light on how European transnational networks operate in the cultural and creative sectors, questioning their political and empirical implications in the EU’s cultural sphere and the external dimension. Her dissertation has been awarded ENCATC Research Award 2023.

She holds two master’s degrees, the first in Performance Studies obtained from IUAV, the second in Cultural Projects for Development compelled at ITC-ILO and UNESCO Centre.
She has also held a visiting fellowship at DAAP at NYU (USA) and she was visiting reseacher at the Cultural Policy Department at the University of Hildesheim (DE).
