prof.dr. D (Dirk) Brounen

Dirk Brounen is Professor of Real Estate Finance at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam, the Netherlands. His research interests include international real estate dynamics, listed real estate performance and housing markets. In his inaugeral address Dirk offers an overview of his research agenda and ambitions for the years to come. Both the boom, the interesting return dynamics of international real estate investments, and the gloom, the intransparent habbits that associate real estate markets, are addressed here. Over the years to come, both the boom and gloom of these markets will be academically researched in Rotterdam. Research, which benefits all actors involved. A goal that is underlined by the support of PricewaterhouseCooper as sponsor of the Chair in Real Estate Finance. Dirk Brounen is founder of the Erasmus Real Estate Center, a platform in which academics and professionals co-operate in relevant research projects. Past research has already been published in leading international journals like; Real Estate Economics, Financial Management, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics and the Journal of Banking and Finance. Besides research the Rotterdam real estate team is also very proud of its real estate teaching program, that has been developed over the years within the BScBA and MscBA-program, and that will be extended to the executive teaching market in the years to come.
