**Dick van Lente** is Assistant Professor and lecturer in the cultural history of modern societies at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication. Current research: * An edited volume on the global cultural history of computers, ca 1945-2000. The goal of the project is to study how computers were received, appropriated, and resisted in different parts of the world, in order to understand the relative importance of local and transnational factors in this process. The authors will focus on expectations, in each country, of the impact of computers on business, education, politics and culture. The aim is to produce a collection of essays, some of which focus on one country, while others compare countries, or deal with flows of technologies and ideas between countries; and then, of course, try to draw conclusions, attempting to contribute to understanding the globalization of a particularly powerful technology and the patterns of expectations spun around it. * A book (in Dutch) on the cultural history of technological and scientific innovations in the Netherlands between 1945 and the end of the sixties.
