**Emma is a PhD candidate at the Center of Excellence for Positive Organizational Psychology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR)**. She studied Psychology at the University of Amsterdam and received her Bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology in 2012. After that, she obtained her Master’s degree in Sports and Performance Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. Before starting her PhD, she worked as a research assistant for several professors, first at the University of Amsterdam and later at the Erasmus Research Institute of Management. She currently combines her PhD research with teaching, mostly in third and fourth year Psychology courses, and supervising Bachelor and Master theses. Essential to her research is her focus on proactive behavior, following the idea that working individuals have become increasingly responsible for their own work experiences and outcomes. Within this framework, Emma examines to what extent people can proactively promote their own levels of well-being and creativity. In her research on ‘proactive vitality management’ she has conducted multiple, consecutive studies in which Dutch, German and American employees from various industries and occupations have participated. **Areas of interest** * Performance psychology * Proactive behavior * Creativity * Vitality * Self-insight * Motivation
