Research interests
I am an Assistant Professor in Law and Technology at the Department of Law & Markets, Erasmus School of Law. I am also the scientific director of the Convergence Centre for Responsible AI in Healthcare. I was formally the project coordinator for the research line Rebalancing Public and Private Interests, part of the Dutch Sector Plan for Law.
My academic work explores the relationships between law, technology, and the human body. I work across several domains, amoong which:
- (Health) Data Governance, including collective models for governing health data, such as data commons, cooperatives, and collaboratives
- Human-Technology Relations and the analysis of legal boundaries around acts of disposition of the human body, with particular reference to contract and property law.
- Digitalisation & Sustainability: Examining how digital infrastructures intersect with ecological concerns
- Technology & Temporality: Investigating how technological systems and narratives shape—and sometimes constrain—societal and legal transformation
Recently, I was recently awarded a prestigious NWO-Veni grant for my project Collective Governance of Health Data: Towards More Democratic and Inclusive Models (2026-2029).
