Research interests

**Friso van Houdt is Academic Director of the Erasmus Honours Programme, Senior Lecturer Political Philosophy & Critical Theory at Erasmus University College Rotterdam (EUR), and a researcher at the Elsa Lab AIMAPS** 

Friso was trained as a criminologist, sociologist and social philosopher. 

As Academic Director he is responsible for the educational policy, general content and organisation of the interdisciplinary Honours Programme “Grand Challenges: Sustainability”, a programme specifically designed for 40 carefully selected, motivated and skilled second year students coming from all faculties of EUR. 

Friso teaches several courses at Erasmus University College such as “Critical Theory”, “Late Modernity: A Genealogy of Neoliberalism”, and “Cheap: A Critique of Capitalism in the Web of Life”. He is coordinator of the Humanities major Political Philosophy and Critical Theory. He was awarded several times teacher of the year.

Friso is also a researcher at the NWA/NWO funded Elsa Lab AIMAPS that studies the ethical, legal and societal aspects of artificial intelligence and surveillance practices.
