Research interests

Gaby Dijkstra is project co-ordinator and researcher for the European Commission-funded EQUAL4EUROPE research project at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM). She is also researcher and programme facilitator at Erasmus Centre for Women and Organisations (ECWO ) and, in April 2022, was accepted as a candidate to the Part-time PhD Programme in Management at RSM where her focus will be leadership development and gender equality.

Alongside her gender-equality focused research and programme facilitation at RSM, Gaby is a sports leadership professional and works with various educational institutions and outdoor sports organisations, both national and international. Within higher education, she focuses on the use of sport in the social field, with emphasis on leadership and empowerment. In doing so, she deals with all facets of diversity and inclusion.

Amongst these is Amsterdam University of Applied Science where she is chairwoman of the examination board at Sportstudies, and lecturer on the topics of Sport for Development. She is also active at a post-secondary vocational (Dutch: MBO) school for Sports & Leisure education – a school without a classroom - where she is head of examinations.

With experience in rock climbing and alpinism, Gaby is also working in the outdoor expedition area, as leadership trainer. As volunteer for Young In Prison, she is a mentor to a young person in Dutch youth prison.
