**Mark van Twist (born 1966) is professor of public administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He is also dean and member of the board of the Netherlands School of Public Administration, an interuniversity institute in The Hague, that offers study programs for senior officials in government, and extraordinary member of the board of the Netherlands Court of Audit.** Prof dr M.J.W. van Twist studied Business Administration (specialization: Management of Change) and Public Administration (specialization: Financial Management in the Public Sector) at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam and the University of Leiden. After graduation in 1989 he began working for the Department of Public Administration of Erasmus University, where he obtained his Ph.D. and became assistant professor. In addition he worked in that period as a free lance journalist for a few professionals periodicals in the field of Public Administration. In 1994 he began working for the School of Systems Engineering, Policy Analysis and Management at the Delft University of Technology, first as associate professor and later as executive director of an interfaculty research institute. In that same period he was also active as a council member in a Dutch municipality. He was asked in 1999 by one of the leading consultancy firms in the Nederlands to become managing director and build up a new group, specializing in the management of complex projects. Two years later he accepted a chair on public private partnership in the Faculty of Management Sciences at Radboud University Nijmegen. Since 2009 he is back at the Erasmus University.
