Research interests

Megan Haasbroek is a PhD candidate in Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and Tinbergen Institute under the supervision of prof. dr. Maarten Bosker. Before this position, she obtained a Research Master in Macroeconomics and International Economics from the Tinbergen Institute. Her main research areas are international trade, economic geography and macroeconomics. Specifically, she is interested in the impact of barriers to trade on trade patterns, which is reflected in her current projects. The first paper is a theoretical exploration of the role of intermediaries in alleviating the impact of search frictions in the trading environment, while the second paper uncovers the impact of domestic transport costs on the consequences of trade liberalization.
