Personal profile

Research interests

dr. Meta van der Linden is a postdoctoral researcher at the Erasmus University sociology department. In her work for the EUR Bridge project, she examines the longitudinal outcomes and impact of integration policies on the structural and socio-cultural integration of refugees in Rotterdam. More broadly, she is interested in how members of different groups think about and engage with each other, and the extent to which these interethnic relations are influenced by the social environment. She has a background in social psychology (Research Master cum laude) and conducted her multidisciplinary Ph.D. thesis at the KU Leuven political science department and as a visiting scholar at the University of Massachusetts Amherst social psychology department. Her Ph.D. thesis focused on the role of contact, threat, and trust for prejudice toward immigrants in Europe and the United States, and the extent to which these intergroup processes are influenced by ethnic diversity and mass media. She has published on interethnic relations and prejudice, and presented her work at international conferences in Israel, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
