Research interests

Pim Jansen holds a chair in Economic Administrative Law at Erasmus School of Law. His chair operates at the intersection of public economic law and administrative law, with a distinctly Rotterdam focus on that part of administrative law which regulates economic activities. Jansen’s research focuses on the evolving role of economic administrative law in structuring the relationship between state and market, with particular attention to strategic autonomy, digitalisation, sustainability, and major societal transitions.

Following legal practice in Amsterdam in the field of competition and regulation, Jansen earned his PhD in 2018 at KU Leuven in Belgium with a dissertation entitled "From Policy to Law? Industrial Policy under European Union Law", after research stays in Tokyo and Cambridge. He has been affiliated with Erasmus School of Law since 2019. In addition, he serves as attorney-at-law at Van Doorne, Editor-in-Chief of Erasmus Law Review, Programme Director of the Togamaster, Co-coordinator of the Master Publiekrecht voor Bedrijf en Burger, and Deputy Member of the Examination Appeals Board (CBE).
