Research interests

**Roxy Damen is a post doctoral researcher at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.**

After completing a bachelor in Cultural Anthropology (VU University) and the research master Migration, Ethnic Relations and Multiculturalism (University of Utrecht), Roxy started her PhD research at EUR in 2018. Her dissertation (Rooting in new soil) is about early integration processes among recently arrived refugees in the Netherlands (with a residence permit) and focusses mainly on Syrian permit holders as they form the largest group of recent arrivals. More specifically, early integration is studied as a multi-perspectival, multi-dimensional and multi-directional process in this disseration, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods. In september 2022, Roxy started her postodc position at EUR, evaluating the new civic integration law in Rotterdam. 

 

Research interests: immigrant and refugee integration, civic integration policy, intergroup relations, interethnic contacts.

Onderzoeksinteresses: integratie van migranten en vluchtelingen, inburgeringsbeleid, relaties tussen groepen en interetnische contacten.
