Sanghamitra studies frugal innovations in medical devices from innovative manufacturing firms in South Africa within a context inclusive technological change. She is also part of the Centre for Frugal Innovation in Africa (CFIA) and has been a visiting PhD researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and University of Johannesburg in South Africa. Sanghamitra holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in chemical engineering from India; and more recently did the PG Diploma on Local Economic Development at ISS. Prior to the PhD, she has worked twelve years in multi-stakeholder government science, technology and innovation policy programmes in India (Department of Science & Technology) and Oman (The Research Council).
