Suzanne Rutz

I studied Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University, concentrating on health promotion and epidemiology (1995-1999), and graduated with honor. After my graduation, I worked as a researcher at the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (2000-2002) and as a policy advisor at the Ministry of Public Health, Welfare and Sports (2002-2006). In 2006, I started working at the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate as an inspector of public health. From that position, I was seconded to a partnership of four inspectorates known as Joint Inspectorate Social Domain (Toezicht Sociaal Domein). During my work as an inspector, I grew interested in the research done on the issues inspectors encounter in their daily practice. Consequently, I began a part time PhD research on how inspectors practice reflexive regulation. In 2017, I obtained my PhD-degree at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. I am currently working - teaching and conducting research - as an Assistant Professor at the Health Care Governance department of the Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management (part time). In addition, I work as an inspector at the Joint Inspectorate Social Domain. My main field of interest is the regulation of health care and more specifically the role of inspectors in care quality improvement.
