Research interests

Yeshiwas Degu Belay is a PhD student at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS/EUR) and University of Iceland. His research aims to examine how the national and international actors interact to mainstream Women, Peace and Security agenda (WPS) in peacekeeping settings by looking at Ethiopia’s peacekeeping engagements, from historical and contemporary perspectives.  Yeshiwas holds MA in International Security from the University of Groningen and MA in Development Studies from ISS/EUR. In addition, he holds a Postgraduate diploma in International Gender Equality Studies from GRO GEST, University of Iceland. Currently, he is member of research team at IHE Delft working on media, science, and water diplomacy project. Previously, he was faculty member at the College of Law and Governance of Mekelle University, Ethiopia. He performed various tasks and positions including member of research and community services executive office and coordinator of department postgraduate programs.
