Description

An application that Abby Muricho Onencan submitted on behalf of the “ImProDiReT” project won the 2022 EUR Open and Responsible Science Awards in the category of Societal Engagement.

The review team considered the project a wonderful example of comprehensive collaboration between researchers and non-academic stakeholders on an internationally relevant and urgent topic. Citizens and local institutions were involved in the research process at all levels: generation of the research question, data collection, and dissemination of the results. In addition, the project implements various open science practices (open data, open access, open materials) that further strengthen the quality, accountability, and trustworthiness of the output.

The prize was awarded during the event titled “The role of scientists in society” (part of the Open & Responsible Science campaign on Engaged Research), which took place on November 17th, 2022 h. 15:00 - 17:00 CET at Location Van der Goot M1-17 (Tokyo). During the event, three winners in three categories were announced and the representatives of all projects took a picture with the Rector Magnificus.
