The CROP Prize is awarded annually to proposals for original, high-quality, academic publications on poverty.
The first call was announced in 2012, and from 2015 it has been for book proposals rather than for full manuscripts. This has resulted in increased participation in recent years. The CROP Prize winner receives the equivalent of NOK 50 000 and the manuscript is published by Zed Books as part of the CROP International Studies in Poverty series.
