Abstract
This chapter provides a systematic overview of the development of migration studies literature. Migration studies have not only experienced a period of rapid growth, but also of increasing diversification, internationalization and disciplinary fragmentation. To map the development of the field, this chapter elaborates how a systematic taxonomy was developed of topics/issues within migration studies. Subsequently, it analyses the development of the field across these issues, but also across countries, disciplines and institutions. Finally, the chapter discusses how knowledge from the field of migration studies can be made more accessible to a broad academic as well as non-academic audience.
