Abstract

Despite that ICU physicians are increasingly confronted with cancer patients, and that cancer patients are part of daily ICU care, several important issues concerning critically ill cancer patients remain understudied. In this thesis, we addressed not only important topics such as prognosis and quality of life after ICU admission, but also (the effects of) decision making and whether ICU clinicians display (unconscious) bias towards cancer patients.
