Abstract
Atherosclerosis can cause plaque and stenosis of the coronary arteries. This stenosis of the coronary arteries is one of the causes of chest pain. It is important to determine if chest pain is caused by coronary artery stenosis as this has consequences in the treatment.
During my PhD I showed two methods using CT scanning can help identify patients in whom the chest pain is caused by stenosis of the coronary arteries. The investigated techniques are: 1) Simulation of the coronary blood stream (CT Derived FFRR) and 2) measurement of myocardial blood flow (CT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging). By correctly identifying these patient unnecessary invasive coronary angiography examinations can be averted.
