Abstract

A 72 year old Portuguese woman was referred to us by the internal medicine department after being admitted with a dysregulated diabetes caused by immunosuppression. There were painful erythematous lesions of the right lower leg with oozing nodules and papules on the dorsal aspect of the foot. There was also pitting oedema. Ultrasound examination excluded thrombosis and venous insufficiency. Scedosporium apiospermum was cultured. The cellulitis caused by this scedosporiosis was successfully treated with voriconazole and intermittent pneumatic compression.
