Abstract
This article explores methodological tensions that can arise in ethnographic research involving two populations that operate within the same social sphere. Drawing on the first stages of fieldwork on Extinction Rebellion and the Farmer movement, this article highlights the necessity of positional reflexivity in ethnography. It specifically discusses how positionality can bring about tensions within three ethnographic principles: access, representation and emotionality. Such tensions can influence data collection and interpretation, affecting the quality and ethics of our research. In this way, this article investigates how reflexivity can be applied in the ethnographic researching of multiple populations.
