Kafka's novels such as The Trial primarily address the absurdity and perversity of the pursuit of order and control, by state, law or religion. The latest variant of this drive for control is technological and commercial, we learn from James Scott's 'Seeing like a State' and Chris Higgins & Matthew C. Jones How Data Happened, A history from the age of reason to the age of algorithms.
