Abstract

Organizational research has categorized team diversity into types. We argue that these categories are over-simplistic and don't fully explain team diversity's mixed effects. We review team diversity descriptions and develop a multi-dimensional framework for fully conceptualizing any potential team diversity. We propose four continua: Task Relevance, Visibility, Malleability, and Inequality.
