Abstract
Legionellosisd or Pontiac fever was recognized in the eighties as a clinical entity. A historical review of this illness is given. The bacterium and its behaviour in the microbiological laboratory are discussed, as well as the diagnostical possibilities, and preventive measures are discussed.
