Abstract

Patients with cardiovascular atherosclerotic disease are at risk of, on one hand, intravascular or cardiac thrombosis and, on the other, bleeding, due to the need for antiplatelet therapy with or without associated anticoagulant treatment. The objective of this chapter is to offer a spectrum of clinical situations in which intracardiac or intravascular thrombosis has occurred as a result of underlying cardiovascular disease or due to catheter-based interventions, by using the pictures derived from invasive intravascular (intravascular ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, angiography) and noninvasive cardiovascular (echocardiography) imaging.
