Abstract

Coronary artery disease is defined as a pathologic process affecting the coronary arteries, although it is most often used to indicate atherosclerotic changes in the coronary arteries. This is also referred to as coronary heart disease (CHD). According to the American Heart Association [1], coronary heart disease includes the diagnoses of acute myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and all other forms of acute and chronic ischemic heart disease (ICD/10 120-125).
