Abstract
Before implementing new algorithms for acute ischemic stroke imaging analysis in clinical practice, their performance must be assessed with a rigorous methodology. The primary aim of this thesis is to assess automated imaging biomarkers in acute ischemic stroke.
The specific objectives of this thesis are:
1.
To assess the performance of software for thrombus detection on CTA scans (Chapter 2).
2.
To assess the performance of automated Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) software for detection of early ischemic changes on non-contrast brain CT scans (Chapter 3).
3.
To assess the performance of automated collateral circulation score algorithms on radiological imaging (Chapter 4-8).
4.
To assess the impact of using automated imaging biomarkers (ASPECTS, collateral circulation score) in a multivariable ordinal logistic regression model to predict outcome (Chapter 9).
