Gender, football fandom and knowledge production: ethnographic insights

Research output: Contribution to conferenceConference contributionAcademic

Abstract

This presentation examines gendered dynamics and knowledge production in Dutch professional men's football fandom. Specifically, I will discuss how gendered relations and sexist encounters can provide valuable information about the underlying power structures, cultural norms, and social hierarchies within the football community under scrutiny. By examining these interactions, we can better understand how such environments perpetuate exclusionary practices and reinforce rigid gender roles, ultimately offering a deeper comprehension of the broader societal issues at play.
