Abstract

Increasingly, effective talent management is becoming key for organization’s success. The present chapter introduces the notion of the Talent Life Cycle (TLC), and builds on that to explain how organizations can move toward more strategic and business driven approaches of talent management. Next, it puts forward the concept of the Talent Value Chain: a holistic perspective on the talent agenda and the primary and secondary drivers of talent. This chapter makes a case for a novel view on talent management, or in other words: a mindset change. This change of thinking would ideally lead to innovative solutions for talent management like recruiting ahead of the curve, attrition of skills, or retention of critical personnel.
