Abstract

This chapter aims first to identify some of our reasons for wanting to speak about 'women and biotechnologies' in the current debates on biotechnology. Secondly it reports on issues related to women's status in biotechnology today in Europe in research, academia and industry. And thirdly it reflects on the link between women and biotechnology in Europe and the global policy debate on biotechnologies.
