Abstract
This book fundamentally analyses the process of regional configuration, upon which the economic development of the country is based. The reconstruction of this historic evolution explains the interaction system that links external and local forces and the State. In the case of Colombia, such a system of interaction is developed in a special context of great diversity, which exposes the impact of specialization in certain primary-export products, industrial expansion and foreign investment on regional configuration.
