Abstract
This thesis is about expanding the criteria for donation and implantation to allow more patients with end-stage renal failure to undergo a kidney transplant. On the one hand, this thesis investigates perfusion methods that could improve organ quality, resulting in more donor kidneys being available. On the other hand, outcomes of patients with relative contraindications for renal transplantation are assessed with the aim of investigating whether rejection for transplant is justified.
