Abstract
This thesis investigates 1) the prevalence and course of neuropsychiatric symptoms in the early clinical stages of Alzheimer’s disease, 2) the way neuropsychiatric symptoms are currently diagnosed and treated in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease at the memory clinic, and (3) how the timely recognition and non-pharmacological treatment of neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer’s disease could be improved in the memory clinic setting. With this thesis, I provided further evidence that Alzheimer’s disease entails more than deficits in memory functioning as neuropsychiatric symptoms should be considered one of the core features of early Alzheimer’s disease as well.
