Abstract

Where decades ago having no guts meant no glory because of poor survival, we were able to shift attention from survival of critical illness to long-term outcomes and mental health with chronic illness. With the studies described in this thesis, we have shown that pediatric IF impacts both physical and psychological outcomes. We explored targets that require intervention in order to improve the wellbeing of children with IF. Suggestions for future research on ways to improve were discussed. This is a first step towards living a life with no guts and more glory!
