Abstract
The concept person-organization fit originated from organizational scholars’ endeavor to illustrate how the interaction of situational factors, such as organization values and norms, and personal factors, such as individual values and personality characteristics, can affect and predict behaviours. It denotes the congruence between the norms and values of organizations and the values of persons. This entry explains the value of understanding person-organization fit to scholars and practitioners, as well as the concept’s complexity and development over time, and the processes enhancing person-organization fit. In addition, the entry proposed several directions for future research, in order to advance our knowledge of the concept and its implications.
