N2 - We thank the four Dutch HEMS centres for their critical evaluation of our paper. The main goal of our study was to assess the quality of care provided by the chain of prehospital and hospital trauma care. Until now such data are unfortunately not available on a nationwide based registry. As provided in the discussion we do not consider our current results and conclusions as the end of a phase, but just the beginning of a better, more reliable matrix to monitor the quality of care.
