Abstract

In this introductory chapter of our Handbook, we describe the importance of scaling and high-growth firms from multiple perspectives. We also review the growth in the academic literature on scaling and provide our view on how we see similarities and differences between scaling and high growth. We end by offering a summary of all chapters in the book and some suggestions for future research.
