Abstract
Psychosis usually doesn't develop overnight. The first signs of psychosis often appear in adolescence. This dissertation examines whether the standardized method used to detect psychotic symptoms in adults and to prevent psychosis in adults also works in adolescents aged 12 to 17. The Prodromal Questionnaire 16-item version (PQ-16) and the Comprehensive Assessment of At-Risk Metal States (CAARMS) are examined for psychometric properties, differences between boys and girls, and differences between adults and adolescents. In addition, the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and the Youth Self-Report (YSR) are examined for their additional value in early detection. Finally, the development of a risk profile for psychosis in young people is monitored for a year, and recommendations for practice and follow-up research are made.
