Abstract
This study deals with the phenomenon of prostitution in reference to the political economy of women's labour and the role of that labour in the development of the tourist industry in South East Asia. Establishing a relationship between sexuality and the economy, the study demonstrates the operation of subjective and objective power relations in the tourist-related sex industry and its contribution to the exploitation of women's labour.
