Abstract
This book is a critical assessment of the experience of trying to apply the Soviet model of state socialism in conditions of underdevelopment. It shows that certain tendential `laws' seem to operate which bring these systems into conditions of crisis, or at least stasis, both economically and politically, and relates these to a basic concept of a `resource-constrained economy'.
