Abstract
The article focuses on the author's study of firms' alliance mechanisms which found that companies who relied on integrating mechanisms had a 71 percent alliance-success rate. The integrating mechanism encourages employees to share productive mistakes to increase organizational learning. The institutionalizing mechanism relies on standardized practices.
