Abstract
(Teaching Case with Manoel Bastos Gomes Neto, Beatriz Gondim Matos, Carlos Everaldo Silva da Costa, Halana Adelino Brandão)
This teaching case analyses the trajectory of Roberto Torres, describing his life story, professional growth, as well as his decisions concerning his company, the Centro Universitário Águia. The paper presents the political, social, and economic scenarios and challenges that this manager faced between 2001 and 2019. In this dynamic environment, the influence of the central government, which is the main regulating and funding body of private education is highlighted. The objective of the paper is to promote theoretical and practical reflections that involve analysis, application and problem-solving skills in the areas of entrepreneurship and strategy. This case can be used for stimulating students’ learning in undergraduate and graduate courses in Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy Management, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, Economics, Finance, and other related courses.
