Abstract

The number of minimally invasive cosmetic procedures with soft tissue filler has increased dramatically in the last decades to reduce the sings of skin aging. Although injections with fillers overall have an low rate of adverse events, their impact can be considerable.
In this thesis I investigate the origin of soft tissue filler adverse events, focusing on
1) immunological profile,
2) bacterial contamination and
3) genetic predisposition
