Abstract
This book addresses the problem of technology choice in the field of informatics. Departing from a general introduction to crucial developments in informatics, the observation is made that current policymaking on informatics is troublesome. Informatics choice needs to be optimized. However, perspectives on technology and inadequate tools of inference stand in the way. The conclusion is that technology choice amounts to a gamble.
