Theater Doesn’t Work: (Co-)Creation in Pandemic Theater-Making

It is 7:00 , the fourth biggest city in Poland. One of the Capitol Musical Theater actors enters the theater’s big street-facing window, sits down on a black chair set on the white background and—does nothing. [...] The routine is repeated for 23 days. Each day a different actor comes, sits still, and leaves.
Theater Doesn’t Work, created by the assembly of the Capitol Theater is a “happening,” an artistic endeavor to bring art to life and break down the barrier between artist and audience. [...] above all, it is an act of waiting. The actors wait to go back on stage and do their job. They wait for the theater to re-open. The performance neither violates COVID-19 regulations, nor denies the pandemic’s existence, but rather comments artistically on the surrounding reality and highlights the irony of the situation.
